Keep In Mind

Prior to applying, we encourage you to verify that you are applying to the correct program and term, and that you can meet all program requirements. The online application will prompt you to enter information about your Scholastic History, test score information, and recommenders' contact information. You will also upload your Statement of Purpose and Personal History Statement and any other departmental required documentation.

If you have previously applied to a graduate program at UCR, you will be able to copy your previous application for the new term you are applying for.

What's Next?

After submitting your online application, you will want to check the graduate program website for more information on when you will need to submit your supporting application materials (transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, writing samples, etc.). All application materials should be sent directly to the graduate program as they are the first to review your application. Only official test scores are reported directly to the Graduate Admissions Office and will be matched to your application upon submission.

Due to the expense of applying to graduate school, submitting unofficial transcripts and test scores are welcomed for the program review process. If admitted and you choose to accept, official copies will be requested then.

Application Review & Decision

Upon submission, your application will be sent directly to the graduate program for review. You can check the status of your application materials received, resend email request to your letter recommenders, and view your admission decision through the online application.

Decisions occur year-round, but most of the decisions for Fall quarter take place January - May. If no decision has been made, the graduate program can provide you an update on the status of your application or documents not received by their office. Once the graduate program has made an admission recommendation and fellowship nomination (if applicable), they will forward your application to Graduate Admissions for final approval. Once a final decision has been reached, you will received official notification by email only.
