Academic Preparation, Recruitment & Outreach (APRO) Program

The UCR Graduate Division strives to diversify the graduate student population by facilitating the recruitment of quality prospective minority students into UCR's 46 graduate programs. Staff in our Academic Preparation, Recruitments & Outreach (APRO) Office, utilize an array of activities to encourage students from educationally disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to learn more about graduate opportunities at UCR and subsequently apply and enroll. APRO uses the following existing programs and resources in the Graduate Division and on on campus to increase enrollment of underrepresented minority students. These are:

  1. Summer and year-long research programs that prepare undergraduates for graduate school
  2. Federal grants providing graduate fellowships for minority students in the STEM fields
  3. Partnerships between UCR, Cal State, and Community Colleges
