Required Forms for Graduate Students
Notice of Intent to Complete a PhD—due April 1st, 2013
Required for all PhD students who wish to walk in the commencement ceremony and plan to graduate Spring or Summer 2013. If you don't wish to walk in the ceremony, this form is not required to graduate.Master's Application for Candidacy—due April 1st, 2013

- All students who wish to participate in the commencement ceremony must confirm their Intent to Participate on the commencement website, beginning April 29th. Students will only be able to log on if they are eligible. Eligibility is determined by the Graduate Division. Students must submit the required forms (listed above) before their eligibility can be determined.
- Graduate Students will participate in the various college ceremonies. Check the commencement website a schedule of ceremonies.
- Regalia must be ordered early. Please review the commencement website and speak to the UCR CampusStore regarding purchasing or renting your regalia. Click here for more information.
- All PhD students will be hooded at the ceremony. Typically your major professor (dissertation committee chairperson) will be hooding you. If that person is unavailable, another member of your committee may substitute.
- All hooding faculty must register on the commencement website. If a faculty member does not have their own regalia, they must request it in a timely manner through the commencement website.
- All CHASS, CNAS and SoBA ceremonies will be ticketed. Tickets will be required for guests to enter the ceremony, including infants. Students will be given an initial allotment of tickets with the opportunity to receive more if available. Students confirming their Intent to Participate will have the opportunity to order guest tickets through the Commencement website. Please confirm your Intent to Participate early to guarantee yourself the full allotment of tickets. Tickets will be distributed at Grad Fair in May.
- PhD students who wish to walk for their master's degree may do so. Please submit the Application for Candidacy, if you have not already done so. That form can be found through the link above and is due by April 1st, 2013.
- Nominations for the Watkins Commencement Award are being accepted until April 1st. This award is presented to a graduating student for outstanding campus and/or community service. A cumulative GPA of 3.5 is required. The recipient will receive a personal plaque, an inscription on UCR's perpetual plaque, a lifetime membership in the UCR Alumni Association, and a $500 prize.
